‘Fortnite’ Season 4 Live – Here’s Everything New Including Map Changes, Battle Pass, Trailer And More

09/18 update below. This post was originally published on September 16th.

After five hours of stopping, fortnite Chapter 3, season 4 live. The servers are back up and running and players are diving from the Battle Bus to beat them on a map with some very important changes.

Season 4 is called Heaven, and it’s a weird season title about a mysterious, everyone-devouring substance called Chrome that occurs around Halloween. Here’s everything you need to know.

chrome paradise

We’ll start with the story trailer that introduces us to a strange new liquid metal called Chrome that has begun to devour the Map and the Seven, and introduces Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) as a model:

We’re also introduced to the mysterious red-haired villain known as The Herald at the end of the trailer:

Chrome will play a major role this season. You can turn yourself and the structures into Chrome and walk through Chrome walls, which you can build into enemy structures to make them impenetrable.

Turning yourself into Chrome makes you immune to fire and damage for a short time, and when you run you’ll turn into a Chrome blob. You can also air dash, which allows you to go through walls (so you can go through a Chrome wall if you’re not Chrome, and any other structure if you’re be Chrome.

New Weapons + Returning Weapons

Two new weapons were introduced in Season 4. Not surprisingly, both are based on Chrome.

Returned and Undamaged Weapons:

  • Sidearm pistol
  • gun head
  • Lever Action Gun
  • SMG rapid fire machine gun

  • assault rifle on guard
  • Hammer Assault Rifle
  • Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR)

  • Shadow Tracker (Strange Weapon)
  • The Dub
  • Boom Sniper Rifle (Exotic Weapon)
  • Boogie bomb (not a tech weapon but looks like a weapon)
  • Shockwave Grenade (also not a tech weapon but here it is)

Sniper Rifles have gained additional strength as well, making the long game even more viable this season:

  • Sniper Hunter Bolt Action – Increased damage and head injury multiplier
  • Hunting rifle – Increased damage and head injury multiplier
  • automatic sniper rifle – Increased damage and head injury multiplier
  • lever action gun – Increased damage and head injury multiplier
  • Suppressed sniper rifle – Damage increased

Season 4 Battle Pass

Six new skins join the Season 4 Battle Pass and one “secret” skin. Read all about these and how to unlock them over here. The Battle Pass again includes 100 levels of content to unlock with Battle Stars, and includes gliders, sprays, emotes, axes, and much more.

New map + map changes

Kondo Canyon has flown, and has become Claudie Condos Apartments. You can use D-Launchers to hit floating (or building) platforms.

Another major new point of interest is Saint Herald:

This is what the new map looks like. You can see that it has become a bit autumnal, and we have four distinct biomes now, with winter snow, green fields, desert, and autumn biome.

New elements like Chrome Splash have joined the game, which can transform you or your walls into Chrome. Now there are also safes that you can open using special keys located around the map in chests etc. Low-security safes require one key; High Security Safes require two and provide better loot. When a key is found, the locations of the Vault are shown on the map. Gone are the days when Epic Games made this kind of thing a real challenge, unfortunately.

Epic Games also added new sliding action, Season 4 challenges, and many other tweaks to gameplay and balance.

That’s pretty much it! Good luck getting your Victory Royales, you little Bedouins! See you in heaven!

original story

fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 has been running for almost the entire summer. In fact, the season started on June 5th, two weeks before the summer solstice. It ends, just two days before the official start of autumn.

We have some clues about the new season, which is called Heaven – although that title sounds ridiculous. While Vibin’s Season 3 title gave it fun summer vibes, Paradise is an odd setting for what seems to be a very scary season.

Weird liquid chrome is in every teaser image so far, and it looks like our heroes – and the map – might be getting sucked into the sticky, oily-looking stuff.

We will know more soon. The end of the third season is approaching, and the fourth season is at the door. Here’s what you need to know.

Season 3 officially ends on Sunday, September 18 at approximately 2 a.m. ET. This is 11pm on Saturday, September 17th if you’re in Pacific Time. That splits into 6 a.m. UTC on Sunday the 18th.

From here we can usually expect three or four hours downtime depending on the update, and of course you’ll need to update your game after Epic Games does its server-side magic.

Season 4 will start right after the servers are back online, so you should be up and running first thing on Sunday morning when you all wake up with bright eyes and bushy tails and ready to storm some Victory Royales.

We’ll cover the new Battle Pass, map changes, challenges, and anything else featured here at Forbes Games. I still hope Epic brings back decent challenges and fun stuff like loading screens and hidden battle stars or coins, but I try not to get my hopes up.

Good luck, young Bedouins. Follow me Twitter or Facebook for more fortnite Coverage of the fourth season.

Update #1

Here’s what we know about Chapter 3, Season 4 so far based on leaks, rumors, teasers, and official announcements from Epic Games.

Battle Pass Skins

Gwen Stacy

We know for sure that there will be a Gwen Stacy Spider-Man skin that appears to have the awesome animation and glossy shading used for cool shading. Spider-Man inside the spider world Movie (one of my favorite Spidey movies of all time).

Gothic Meowscles

We also know there’s a Goth Meowscles skin, perfect for Halloween, although the “muscle” in the cat’s name seems like a misnomer at this point. Gothic Meowscles was not torn in any sense of the word.

Sports chrome third skin hands could be a part of the Battle Pass as well, thanks to what we’ve seen in the teasers (although this is taken with a grain of salt, naturally).

The popular streaming device SypherPK has finally gotten its own Icon Series skin, although it won’t be part of the Battle Pass. In the image of the new skin, there is also a new AR scope or tactical rifle of some sort, so expect it to be one of the new weapons in Chapter 4, Season 4.

Other changes we can expect are lots and lots of vines on the map, including chrome tornadoes that might be more like antiquities than relaying weather events. We should also see a bunch of balloons floating across the map as well.

Correction 22.00

The new patch 22.00 will drop when the game drops on Sunday, but as of this writing we don’t know the exact size of the update on each platform. I will update this post as soon as we know.

Live event

Unfortunately there won’t be a live event to end Season 3 and start Season 4, which is definitely a huge shame. Fortnite live events are among the best out there and the highlight of every season. Hopefully we can have a big live event to finish Season 4 in a few months.
